Once again, we have come to the end of a very successful curling season. As you'll see from what follows, we've had lots of winners.

Senior Doubles winners :   Madeleine Golden and Louise Matulis;    Junior Doubles   winners :    Ettie McManus and Anne Keske.   

Winners of the Brooms – Julie Condy, Marie-Claire Pitre, Anne Keske and Diane Gignac; runners-up   -   Carol Meehan, Leesa Smith, Iris Fukunaga and Barbara Marcolin.   Winners of the Stones – Audrey Avon, Kathy Lamont, Beryl Chown and Millie Pope; runners up   - Eleanor Metcalfe, Joan Welsh, Celine Landry and Helen Hasegawa.

Club Trophy winners :   Shirley Hunter, Martha Guerriero and Eileen Payne;   runners-up -    Una O'Shaughnessy, Pat Saito , Rosemarie DeVerteuil and Barbara Sauvé.

The Green Singles was won by Cairine Brideau.

On March 15 th , the LCA Balmoral Trophy winners were   Joan Macnab, Audrey Avon, Patricia Srigley and Madeleine Golden   and the Braemar Trophy  winners were Alison Rousset, Sharon Flaherty, Fabienne Boudreau and Nancy Clark.

The Skins winners were Ann Smith, Martha Guerriero, Julie Condy and Carole Ouimet.

Kathy Lamont,   Gloria Dickinson, Julie Condy and Carole Meehan were the winners of the Windmill Trophy ;  Linda Ellyett, Pat Saito, Jane Bronstetter and Carole Ouimet were  Section B winners .

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Kathleen Wilson, Martha Guerriero and Pam Coombes for organizing the Polka Dot Crystals Closing Bonspiel on April 4 th . The winners : -first draw: Wendy VanBlokland, Kathy Lamont, Carolyn Faulconbridge and Diane Gignac; second draw; Shirley Hunter, Linda Ellyett, Ettie McManus and Barbara Sauvé.  A delicious buffet luncheon was served.  

Nice to see the newer curlers participating in outside bonspiels.   On February 28 th Leesa Smith, Kim Cunningham, Anne Keske and Helen Forest were runners-up in the Lacolle's Ladies' Bonspiel .   Originally Iris Fukunaga was to play lead but that morning a faulty gripper caused her to have a bad fall on the ice and Helen stepped in at the last minute.

On March 24 th , Martha Guerriero, Anne Keske, Helen Forest and Iris Fukunaga had a great time renewing acquaintances at the Brownsburg Bonspiel. Again Helen stepped in to replace Kim Cunningham, who had hurt her back.

On   December 9th,   I reported that a green had won in the President's Trophy when in fact, Helen Forest was the winning lead.    Sorry Helen.

Maureen Arnold and her committee ran a very successful bonspiel on January 13 th .   A big THANK YOU to Wayne Arnold for giving up his Saturday to clean and pebble the ice and put up Club signs.  

The finals for the Katherine Tooke Trophy were played on February 1 st .   The winners were:   Janet Hawke, Anita Glen, Jane Bronstetter and Sandra Holland.; runners up :   Pam Coombes, Angela Collins, Caroline Faulconbridge and Louise Jackson

Congratulations to Claire MacDougall, Joan Macnab, Maxime Perra (Whitlock) and Judy Simpson (Mount Bruno) who will represent Pointe Claire at the Senior Ladies' Provincial Playdowns in Cap de la Madeleine starting February 19 th .   Good luck .

The Wright Trophy , for leads and seconds, was won by Rosemarie DeVerteuil, Eileen Payne and Barb Marcolin (a green); runners-up were Connie Corish, Anne Keske and Diane Gignac (a green).    Well done, Ladies.

On February 13 th , Janet Hawke, Martha Guerriero, Jeanne-Marie Shipley and Iris Fukunaga   won the McGerrigle Trophy at the Ormstown Bonspiel .   Congratulations.

On January 11th, the team of Kim Cunningham, Anne Keske, Sylvia Papachristou and Patricia Srigley won the Earle Trophy, part of LCA's Tobin Earle.

 

 

Runners up in the Tobin were Marie-Claire Pitre, Carole Ouimet, Kathleen Wilson and Helen Forest.

Well done ladies.

WOW Ladies, congratulations on a very successful CHRISTMAS BAZAAR.

The team of Rosemarie DeVerteuil, Fabienne Boudreau, Kim Cunningham and Helen Forest won the LCA St. George trophy by one point over the team of Linda Ellyett, Martha Guerriero, Jane Bronstetter and Carole Ouimet.   

Martha Guerriero, Pam Coombes and Kathleen Wilson organized the Christmas Crystals s on December 6 th. Everyone agreed the snacks, lunch and the homemade desserts were delicious. The winners   -   first draw :   Alison Rousset, Helen Hasegawa and Jane Bronstetter; second draw :   Madeleine Golden, Fran Wright and Kim Cunningham; third draw :   Shirley Dobson, Irene Parsons and Louise Jackson

The finals of the President's Trophy were played on December 7 th.  The winners were: Joan Macnab, Pam Coombes, Rosemarie DeVerteuil and Helga Hobday (a green ); runners-up:   Sharon Flaherty, Linda Ellyett, Eileen Payne and Gail MacGregor.

Congratulations to third Joan Macnab and lead Linda Ellyett for winning All Stars with skip Claire McDougall and second Gael Montpetit (Lachine). Well done, Ladies. A very successful couple of months for the Ladies' club.  

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We'll see you on the ice in January 2007.

DAY LADIES' CURLING NEWS

It's hard to believe it's October already. A very successful Open House was held on Wednesday, September 27 th. A big ‘thank you' to Loretta Troyer, Social Chairperson,   and her committee for the refreshments.

The Crystals committee of Kathleen Wilson, Pam Coombes and Martha Guerriero, ran a successful Opening Crystals day,   Wednesday, October 4 th .    Forty-four curlers participated and the winners of the first draw were:   Shirley Dobson, skip, Beryl Chown, Connie Corish and Anne Keske;   second draw winners: Joan Welsh, skip, Pat Saito and Meredith Royds.   Well done.   The Social committee   provided a delicious lunch.

The first week of clinics finished on Friday, October 6 th and we have two new members; Barbara Sauvé and Cairine Brideau.   Welcome ladies, I'm sure you'll enjoy your winter at PCCC.
