DRAWS

Feb 20-21 and Feb 27-28

The signup sheet is posted and I see we have some teams entered already. If you have played in the Lakeshore before, you know how much fun it can be. For those who have never entered let me give you some info:

* It is open to EVERYONE.

* You don't have to be Briar Calibre to enter. If you lose a game you drop down a level or 2, so you will reach your level eventually.

* You get to see at least 4 other clubs. Seven clubs in the bonspiel.

* 4 games guaranteed, more if you win.

* Make some new curling friends from all over the area.

* Coffee and donuts (most clubs).

* Lunch or snacks after each game.

* Big brunch on the last Sunday for all playoff teams - 4 per division, 7 divisions.

* Great prizes for winners and runners up. Genuine Soapstone carvings and stainless Tankards

The Lakeshore Bonspiel is over for 2009, prizes awarded and the records are in the books.

There were 64 teams entered this year and a good representation from Pointe-Claire with 13 teams. This must have been a lucky number for us as we ended up with 5 teams in the Sunday finals.

While we did not win any of the finals we did end up with lots of soapstone carvings. I hope the teams will bring them down to the club for us to admire.

Following are the results in the 7 divisions.

Behind the scenes.

We hosted 25 draws at Pointe-Claire. This means we fed meals and snacks to over 200 hungry curlers and guests. And believe me they were hungry!

Between the Semi-final and the final on Sunday Feb 22 we provided a full brunch (eggs, sausage, ham, roast potatoes, toast, fruit, juice and coffee) to 30 curlers and guests.

My thanks to all the hardworking volunteers who dedicated their precious weekend time to make this all possible.

Regards.
