Open House / Portes ouvertes

On Sunday, April 20, PCCC hosted an Open House for guests who came for an introduction to curling, an on-ice practice session and a few ends of game action. More than 70 of the approximately 90 curlers were new to the club including softball players, sailors, parents of a hockey team along with family, friends and neighbours of club members. At times during the afternoon the lounge was standing room only!

Some of the highlight competitions featured Pointe-Claire Yacht Club Fireball sailors vs Etchells sailors, Beaconsfield Men’s Slo Pitch provided three teams ready to take on all contenders while the cities of Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield were represented in a spirited game by their mayors and city councillors.

Sunday’s weather was perfect for a barbeque, so, thanks to Steve Hewlett and Marc Lefebvre, PCCC held a perfect one in conjunction with the Open House.

The hallmark of a PCCC event is great work by volunteers. The Open House was a success due to the efforts of Terry Bird, Danielle Cote, Guy Hamilton, Steve Hewlett, Jim Kyle, Keith Mallette, Eleanor Metcalf, Eric Mills, Marc Lefebvre, Hugh MacDonald, Dan McDonough, Christine McMurray, Jan Szumski, Joan Williams and Derek Walton.

Many thanks to the following who encouraged their friends and family to join them on the ice: Terry Bird, Dawn Chipps, Bob Dods, Steve Hewlett, Marc Lefebvre, Ruth McFarland, Bill McMurchie, Christine McMurray, David Montgomery, Ray Ouimet, Brian Palfreemen, Jim Purvis, Don Richardson, Brenda Cooper, Barbara Sauve, Kathy Timpson, Al Ward and Joan Williams.
